rachel zoe|resort 2012

For her second outing since launching her contemporary line in January, Rachel Zoe showed a resort collection that continued on her penchant for Seventies-inspired tailored pieces. Looks also included new shapes such as a high-waisted silk maxiskirt with a thigh-high slit, shoulder-baring blouses and organza party dresses.

paris fashion week|akris rtw fall 2011

This has to be my new favourite label. Akris. A modernist architectural reference is typical at Akris, and this season was no exception. Albert Kriemler drew on the work of Joseph Maria Olbrich, specifically his Wedding Tower, the quirky building in Darmstadt, Germany. The most obvious references were the photographic prints that appeared on a long wool dress and a floor-length cape, among other items. That was Kriemler’s one lofty indulgence, but the rest of the collection was pure luxury sportswear, highly bankable in its minimalist lines and expensive wool jerseys and double-face cashmeres worked in warm, autumnal colors. There was a rustic softness in the beginning with some divine, chunky cashmere crochets. Brown and golden suedes were a new obsession on skinny pants and sheaths, one of which was done with a fur bodice to signal the height of Akris’ understated prestige. And in a shrewd move toward ongoing trends, Kriemler flirted with a little edge, adding zipper details to long, lean jersey dresses that were slit up the side and looked great with a cashmere bomber.

opening ceremony x levi’s

The new collaboration between the cult US labels sees an eight-piece line as shot by Terry Richardson.

Cult label Opening Ceremony has teamed up with legendary denim brand Levi’sfor an eight-piece collection launching this February. Shot by Terry Richardson, the campaign captures Opening Ceremony’s youthful energy and playful spirit. The collection consists of four outfits for men and four for women in a colourful array of premium Japanese Chambray and lightweight indigo denim. Styles available for women include the Onesie, an all-in-one that combines Levi’s iconic coverall with the Opening Ceremony volume skirt.

The Tunic is inspired by the archival Levi’s® Sunset Popover shirt, whilst the Cropped and feminine Jacket is a spring take on the denim trucker jacket. Menswear includes the Coverall, taking inspiration from the Levi’s Coverall that dates back to the early 1900s, whilst merging design details from Opening Ceremony’s men’s shorts suit. Slightly shrunken for a premium, vintage look, the Trucker references Levi’s classic trucker jacket whilst the Popover hoodie features pocket details derived from their workwear heritage. The iconic 505 jean completes this exclusive capsule collection and is available in indigo denim as well as a stand out Orange Chambray finish. DazedDigital

superga new face|alexa chung

Alexa Chung has been made the new face of Italian sneaker brand, Superga. The campaign will launch in February.

The pairing marks the label’s 100th anniversary and is part of a new initiative to give the brand a stronger UK presence, Drapers reports. The brand is known for its sporty preppy styles and chunky vulcanised rubber soles.

The Vogue cover girl has previously modelled for Pepe Jeans, DKNY and Lacoste.

erin wasson

Erin Wasson’s personal style is an authentic mix of the rock and the roots, with a tomboyish sexiness that’s pretty hard to replicate. Until now! Erin has contributed a huge box full of pretty incredible clothing and accessories to our 35 Howard St. Fashion’s Night Out closet sale. And the best part of it is, these pieces don’t feel like castoffs – they feel like Erin! Skinny faded jeans, a low-slung Balmain bag, amazing shoes, and lace a’plenty.
